The best Al Merrick Surfboards
Al Merrick has been bringing out wonders in surfboards under the Channel Islands Surfboards brand for years. The legendary shaper Al Merrick has made surfboards for the best surfers on the planet. If you are looking for a surfboard that offers you Al Merrick sensations it is a guarantee of success.
One of the surfboards Al Merrick, has won this year the title of Best surfboard in the World with his Al Merrick Fever, whose review you can read in our BLOG. Al Merrick surfboards has more titles than any other shaper or surfboard builder in the world. Five decades of mastery, five decades of pride in craftsmanship, creativity, culture, community and the relentless pursuit of better surfboards.
One of its main novelties for this year is the Fishbeard. A fish board that has its origin in the CI Neckbeard 2 model and that is now in everybody's mouth. A real success in sales, which you can buy in Singlequiver.
The Channel Islands Ultra Joe Surfboard is a fun, simple, easy-to-ride board and it's one of the al merrick surfboards top sellers. For 2019, after rounds of customer feedback and team testing, Channel Islands created a souped-up, sleeker version…the Ultra Joe.
The Ultra Joe boasts foiled rails, a double-bump squash tail, narrower nose with an updated rocker profile, and additional exit rocker. The result is a progressive step forward for beginner/intermediate surfers while at the same time is an inviting step down for average to good surfers seeking something fun and cruisy on the smaller, weaker days. Despite all these changes, one thing remains the same: the fun factor.
The Al Merrick Rocket Wide Surfboard is the incredibly user-friendly cousin of the Rocket 9. "My brothers and I loved the speed and control we were feeling with the Rocket 9 and we wanted to see how we could apply those same levels of fun and performance to a board for small and gutless waves." ~Pat Gudauskus.
The All Merrick Happy is a new performance shortboard model built to give surfers the freedom to easily go wherever their mind takes them. Low entry rocker and strategically placed forward volume allow the board to paddle well, get up to speed quickly, and perform extremely well in the tube.
Available in both standard PU and Spine-Tek construction, as well as the Plus dimensions for extra volume, and the new Step-Up pin tail for when the waves get bigger. Recommended for intermediate to pro surfers.
Channel Islands is proud to offer an original Bonzer collaboration with Malcom Campbell, Britt Merrick, and Dane Reynolds. The three recently got in the shaping room to design and hand shape a board for Dane with blended elements from the 70's and current period.

The Almerrick Surfboard Story
Channel Islands Surfboards was created by Al and Terry Merrick in 1969. Since its creation, Channel Islands Surfboards has been dedicated to the manufacture of high performance surfboards, prioritizing quality through hard work, innovation and originality in their designs. Over the past 43 years, Channel Islands Surfboards has grown from a small factory to a state-of-the-art organization serving the world's best surfers. From Tom Curren, to Dane Reynolds, Channel Islands boards continue to evolve at the highest level of surfing.
Britt Merrick "My parents started Channel Islands in 1969. And I was born in 1972, so my whole life has been on the Channel Islands. I don't remember anything before that."
"When I was a kid, my parents worked very hard to build the business. They started with nothing. My parents borrowed $200 to buy a bolt of cloth and a barrel of resin and that's how they started. They were super poor, so that was a big problem for them. Today that's still the only loan they've taken out for Channel Islands Surfboards," says Britt Merrick in an interview with Stab Magazine.
