Belgian Surfer Found Dead in Famara, Lanzarote Beach

A Belgian man was found by beach lifeguards floating in the water with a severe facial injury. The 59-year-old man reportedly suffered a cardiac and respiratory arrest, and lifeguards began performing basic cardiopulmonary resuscitation. The emergency services were alerted at 11:35 a.m. about a surfer showing signs of drowning. The lifeguards discovered the man floating with a broken surfboard and a severe blow to the face. The man had been living in Lanzarote for several years. Despite advanced medical assistance, the man could not be resuscitated and was declared dead at the scene. The Canarian Emergency Service dispatched a medicalized ambulance and basic life support ambulance to the area.
