NEW VOLCANIC FIREWIRE CONSTRUCTION TECHNOLOGY
Volcanic Tech is manufactured from basalt fibers extruded from volcanic rocks that are crushed, melted and extruded into woven fibers that make up the fabric. Manufacturing the basalt fiber requires melting the crushed and washed basalt rock at about 1,500 °C (2,730 °F). The molten rock is then extruded through small nozzles to produce continuous filaments of basalt fiber. These filaments are then cut into long-stemmed fibers and woven into lamination fabric fiber. The fabric has similar characteristics to carbon in terms of strength and weight; however, because the fibers are derived from organic raw materials, when combined with biological resins they are a better ECO degradable alternative to traditional carbon fiber fabric.
Basalt fiber is relatively new in fiber-reinforced polymers (FRP) and structural composites. It has a similar chemical composition to fiberglass, but has better strength characteristics and, unlike most glass fibers, is highly resistant to alkali, acid and salt attack, making it a good candidate for the manufacture of surfboards surfing .
Compared to carbon fiber and aramid fiber, it has the characteristics of a wider application temperature range -452° F to 1,200° F (-269° C to +650° C), higher oxidation resistance, higher radiation resistance, higher compressive strength and higher shear strength.
Unlike carbon fiber, this fabric can withstand high temperatures, which is why it is widely used in the aerospace industry for the manufacture of rockets and jet engines. The elasticity characteristics of this fiber are superior to those of traditional carbon fiber, allowing the surfboard to have more flexibility for a natural underfoot feel.
