Firewire Rob Machado - Sunday - Helium

This is a super light and extremely strong board thanks to its Helium construction that will allow you to surf it in Single Fin, Twin Fin or 2+1 configuration.

Sunday Machado Board Features

Rocker: Pretty flat nose rocker and generous volume under the chest. So it paddles very well and also generates great speed without losing stability.

Rails:  The Firewire Sunday has a medium edge profile, which decreases significantly in thickness as it approaches the tail. The edges are tapered and the volume is lowered, so that when you put weight on the back foot, the tail digs well into the water and the board moves very easily.

Volume: The generous volume in the centre is lowered just enough when you get to the edge so that the board is more reactive and the edge penetrates the wall without too much difficulty.

Concave: The board has a single double concave that is quite deep from the centre of the board and then V-shaped through the tail. This gives the board a lot of manoeuvrability, despite the large amount of volume it has.

Tail: The tail works really well when surfing in the pocket of smaller waves and when we move on to bigger waves it offers equally great grip. Despite the extra volume you get under your back foot, it's still a pretty loose board and the round tail makes the transitions from edge to edge pretty smooth.

Fin configuration: Its 2+1 fin system allows you to use it as:

• Single Fin if you want to draw wide lines and flow over the wave.
• Twin Fin, if you want to give it extra speed.
• 2+1 for functional and fun surfing

What we like the most: its versatility

Thanks to its size this board offers great manoeuvrability and buoyancy. Thanks to its 2+1 fin system this board is really a 3x 1. Single Fin, Twin Fin, 2+1... change the fin configuration and enjoy a different surfing every day.

Ease of use

The Fire Wire Sunday like the Seaside Beyond is a wave catching machine. Thanks to its width and comfortable midleght shape it is a very easy board to use in the conditions most of us encounter in the water on a regular basis.

Great paddling power

This board is extremely versatile and one of the most complete boards in the Firewire Surfboards range.  The Machado Sunday has a very full and forgiving outline with plenty of volume to give you extra paddling power.

At SINGLE QUIVER SURFSHOP we recommend you to buy this board with a much bigger volume than you are used to carry on your usual shortboard.

Rob Machado uses this board in 5'6 which is about 6 litres more than he usually uses on a shortboard. It was Machado who said "volume is your friend" and that's probably what the free surfer likes most about it.

The Sunday comes in Helium construction, our favourite of the various technologies used in Firewire boards.

Firewire's Helium technology makes the Sunday a super light and extremely strong board. Outer foils made from a high density aerospace composite and a new Paulownia/Balsa blend on the edges provide a faster and slightly different flex response than standard PU boards.
