Five ideas for a surftrip in February
February is coming and with it one of the best moments for a little surftrip. The temperatures are warmer if we get closer around the equator, and the best thing is we can enjoy solid swells and offshore winds. To help you find a destination this February we have chosen 5 of the best waves in the world, that work especially well this month and are apt for all levels.
1. Tamarindo, Costa Rica
Tamarindo, known as the “surf mecca”, situated in the north coast of the pacific in Costa Rica. Easy access and a variety of sports, which includes beach spots, river mouths and reef breaks like Witches Rock and Ollie´s Point. If you´re looking to avoid the crowd your destination should be Playa Grande. Grande offers the most consistent waves in the area and it´s only 15 minutes by car from Tamarindo. More challenging coasts for advanced surfers will be found in Langosta.
2. Taghazout, Morocco
Without a doubt there are uncountable places to surf at in Morocco, but the coast of Taghazout which until recently was a small fishing village in the south of Morocco, can boast of having some of the best surf spots in the country. Spots like Killer point, Anchor Point, banana Point, hash Point, Boilers or Mysteries. Reef breaks with long rights and excellent beach breaks that offer ideal conditions for surfing at all levels. All of that has made Taghazout one of the main destinations for surfers from all over the world. Plus the climate is kinder with more than 300 hours of sun every year.
Without a doubt it’s a safe bet for February and to be free from boots, hood and the 4/3 for a few days at least. Despite that, it´s still recommendable to surf with a 3/2 mm. 3. Ngarunui Beach, New Zealand
Raglan is situated in the East Coast of the Northern Isle in New Zealand; it’s the destination number one for the months of October to February. During these dates we have surf spots for all levels. The very long beach of the Ngarunui beach is the ideal place for beginners and intermediate level surfers. Also the classic surf spot of Manu Bay is mostly for advanced surfers. This last spots enjoys one of the longest waves in the planet.

4. Hanalei Pier, Kauai, Hawaii
The city of Hanalei is situated in the beautiful bay of the same name, is found in the north coast of Kauai. Surrounded by a number of surf spots. For beginners we highlight the port of Hanalei. All the beaches in Kauai are public. Including those that are privatized by a hotel can be accessed through public walkways.

5. Surfer´s Point, Barbados
Finally, the last destination for our February surftrip recommendations is Surfer´s Point in Barbados. Idyllic place for starting to learn surfing. Warm water, spectacular scenery and a fun left. Surfer´s Point also offers the perfect conditions to practice other aquatic sports like windsurf, kite surf or kayaking.
