TOO FISH KEEL MACHADO FINS

The first set of fins 's I rode was on a Skip Frye fish around the time we were shooting Seedling- these fins 's had been hand shaped by Larry Gephart. Basically, they looked like plywood that somebody had cut and laminated; they were beautiful. And that's what originally sparked my imagination about fishes and fins keel-type fishes.

Soon after that I started experimenting with different shapes of fish and that's when I started to approach the fins keel.

Today, my focus is on combining performance with the traditional feel of a fins keel set. For example, I have moved away from fins s that have a super wide base and have leaned towards more curvature

Overall, my goal with this new set of fins was to find something that would give you all the positive feelings of having a traditional fin, but softened so that it's not so trackey and drivey. I wanted something that would loosen up and I wanted something that would release and come alive in the pocket of the wave when you wanted it to,

ROB MACHADO'S OPINION ON THE TOO FISH FINS

What I like most about this new set from fins is the way it holds a line and feels locked in on speed sections, but also pivots off a track and comes alive in the pocket of the wave when you want it to. A lot of this comes from the way the foil has been designed

Rob has designed these new fins with his new surfboard Firewire Too Fish in mind, but also with the intention of making something so versatile that it can work with any twinfin type surf surfboard. To be honest, Machado has been riding them a lot on the Sunday, as well as the Midas, and also on some twin step up surfboards s he's been experimenting with recently.

The lesson he has learned over the last year of developing these fins is that there are more uses for the fins twinfin keel type than we think, so be creative. Don't be afraid. Machado is very pleased with the outcome of these fins.
